Professor Leigh Simmons
Biography
I received my PhD from Nottingham University in 1986 and held a series of postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Liverpool until 1995 when I moved to UWA as an ARC Senior Research Fellow. My interests are in the study of evolution, and in particular how selection has shaped the reproductive behaviour and morphology of animals. Much of my research has used insects as model systems for studying evolution but I have also extended my work to other animal groups, including fishes, frogs and humans. I am on the editorial boards of Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, Biological Sciences; Behavioural Ecology and Sociobiology; Journal of Evolutionary Biology; and Advances in the Study of Behavior
