Assoc/Prof Rosemary Saunders
Course Co-ordinator (Master of Nursing Science)
Biography
Since commencing my nursing training at Princess Margaret Hospital, I have had a variety of nursing roles in the acute, community and aged care sectors with a strong focus on nursing education, both locally and internationally.
In my academic roles I have coordinated and taught a range of units in both undergraduate and post graduate nursing programs. In these roles I have been responsible for leading a large team of clinical teaching staff, and guiding teaching and learning in nursing practice units, and liaising with industry to develop strong links and quality of clinical practicums.
I have also has developed alternative models for clinical practice by establishing community partnerships. This has provided students with dynamic learning environments to facilitate the theory to practice link, and builds partnerships with local government regions, communities and local health regions. I have also made a significant contribution to the development of clinical resources to support teaching and learning in nursing for students and staff. In my previous role I was involved in implementing a Client Management Information system as a " paperless" approach to the documentation requirements in Aged Care.
I have a strong commitment to nursing education and my areas of interest include community nursing, clinical practice, cross cultural nursing, international health, health promotion and aged care. My past experience also includes working as a Lecturer in Nursing in Brunei & working with the WHO Primary Health Care Training Unit, and also lecturer in the Aboriginal Health Worker Training Program at Marrmooditj.
