Biography
Dr Liam O'Connor graduated from medical school at UWA in 1982 and worked as a general practitioner for several years before completing his Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1988. Returning to Australia, he specialized as a pathologist (microbiology), training at the State Health Laboratory Service, QEII (now PathWest), Fremantle Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital. In 1993 he obtained his fellowship from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (Australasia). Dr O'Connor now splits his time between his role as Head of Microbiology with CliniPath (Clinipath) Pathology in West Perth and his position as a Senior Lecturer with UWA.
