The site of the proposed works is at the Fairway 4 entrance to the Crawley Campus.
This land was identified as a site for potential university development in the Campus Plan 2000 and the 2010 Crawley Campus Plan.
The proposed facilities will be constructed on land that is currently Carpark 14, containing staff and student parking bays.
The University will provide a temporary car park during construction to minimise parking pressures.
The Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre has some street frontage however it has been designed so the majority of the facility runs east-west with limited windows facing Fairway and neighbouring properties.
